Reasons for Excessive Engine Oil Consumption

Engine oil consumption may be excessive due to the following reasons: 1、Excessive Clearance: Excessive blow-by in the crankcase can cause oil to be carried away by exhaust gases through the ventilation tube. Oil cooler leaks, excessive clearance between pistons and cylinder walls, piston rings being misaligned or stuck in the grooves and losing elasticity, incorrectly installed twisted or tapered rings losing oil-scraping ability, or even pumping oil into the combustion chamber can all lead to excessive engine oil consumption. 2、Damaged Valve Stem Seals: Damaged valve stem seals, failed turbocharger seals causing oil leaks, crankshaft seal leaks, oil seepage at gasket joints with the crankcase, or air compressor blow-by can all result in excessive engine oil consumption.
