Is Using a Car Cover in Summer Bad for the Car?
1 Answers
Using a car cover in summer has both advantages and disadvantages: It can protect the paint from direct sunlight, but the high summer temperatures may cause friction between the cover and the car's paint, potentially damaging it. The functions of a car cover: Paint protection film (PPF) primarily defends against dust and acid rain, enhancing the car's appearance. Its self-healing ability is stronger than waxing. However, acid rain, insect remains, bird droppings, and accumulated dirt can gradually erode the PPF, affecting the car's surface shine. Therefore, even with PPF, regular cleaning is essential. For frequent use, washing the car once a month is recommended, while for less frequent use, cleaning at least every six months is advisable. Precautions for car covers: After applying PPF, avoid waxing or permanent polishing for the first three days. It's best to wait about two months before waxing again.
