The paint sprayed at a 4S shop is not the original factory paint. The baking temperatures for repair paint and original factory paint differ. Original factory paint is a high-temperature paint, baked at 200-300 degrees Celsius, while repair paint is a low-temperature paint, baked at only 70-80 degrees Celsius. Quality issues with the paint: The quality of the paint is reflected in aspects such as corrosion resistance, adhesion, wear resistance, and color. If the paint color is off or of poor quality, it becomes very difficult to match the original car color, leading to noticeable color differences after application. Spraying process issues: At repair shops, painting is generally done manually, and the occurrence of color differences is closely related to the technician's skill. Factors such as color ratio adjustment and spraying proficiency play a significant role. Vehicle age issue: Some vehicles are older, and their body paint has been exposed to wind, sun, and rain for a long time, often resulting in aging and darkening. When new paint is applied over old paint, it creates a stark contrast, making the color difference appear very noticeable.

A few days ago, I went to the 4S shop for pearl white paintwork. They claimed it was original factory paint, but from my experience, it's not 100% authentic. New cars are painted with high-temperature baking at the factory, making the paint exceptionally hard and durable. In contrast, 4S shops typically use low-temperature baking. Although the paint formula is similar, the strength is slightly inferior. Pearl white has a sparkling effect achieved by mixing special powders. If the temperature or pressure isn't well-controlled during spraying, the color can become uneven, leading to noticeable differences in sunlight. Last time my car was sprayed, the left door panel turned out slightly darker, and I had to go back to adjust the color code to get a barely acceptable match. The advantage is that 4S shops have professional craftsmanship and offer free rework within the warranty period, making them much more reliable than roadside shops. I recommend having them test-spray a small panel for comparison before proceeding, especially if the car is older, as color changes become more noticeable. Overall, it's quite close but not absolutely original factory quality.

Can dishwashing detergent remove car oil film?

Glass oil film can be removed with dishwashing detergent. Pour a small amount of dishwashing detergent onto a cloth or cleaning sponge, spread it evenly, then rinse with clean water to easily remove the oil film. For more stubborn oil films, multiple wipes may be necessary. Alternatively, you can purchase some professional oil film cleaners. Below is extended information about glass oil films: 1. Vehicle oil films form when glass is exposed to oil and dust in the air and isn't thoroughly cleaned for a long time, allowing buildup. 2. Oil films can obstruct the driver's view while driving, especially during rain or at night, posing serious safety hazards that require prompt removal. 3. Sometimes oil films are very stubborn and cannot be completely removed by regular car washing; special oil film removers and soft cloth wiping are needed for thorough cleaning.

Items checked during the annual inspection: If an on-site inspection is required, the vehicle must be driven to the inspection station for testing. The inspection includes checks on the braking system, lighting system, exhaust emissions, chassis, etc. Vehicles within the first two years do not require on-site inspection; owners only need to collect the annual inspection sticker from the vehicle management office. When collecting the sticker, the following documents are required: vehicle license, compulsory insurance policy, owner's ID card, and proof of vehicle and vessel tax payment. Reasons for failing the annual inspection: If any item fails to meet the standard, the vehicle will not pass the inspection. For on-site inspections, the vehicle license, compulsory insurance policy, and owner's ID card must also be presented.

Should You Use Internal or External Air Circulation When Running the Car AC on Hot Days?

On hot days, for regular cooling, first turn on the internal circulation before switching to external circulation. If the car has been exposed to direct sunlight, open the windows first before turning on the external circulation. Here is some relevant information about internal and external air circulation in cars: 1. The Principle of Internal and External Circulation: External circulation essentially draws air from outside the vehicle, filters it through the AC filter, and delivers it into the cabin via the blower. Internal circulation, on the other hand, simply blocks the external air intake. Whether using internal or external circulation, exhaust air inside the car is expelled through the vents, so there's no need to worry about oxygen levels even when using internal circulation. 2. When to Use External Circulation: Whether heating or cooling, windows are usually closed initially to quickly reach the desired cabin temperature. Over time, without fresh air, the cabin air becomes stale and oxygen levels drop. At this point, switching to external circulation allows fresh outside air to enter, facilitating quick air exchange. 3. When to Use Internal Circulation: Internal circulation is typically used when first turning on the heater or AC. Additionally, when outside air quality is poor, it's advisable to switch from external to internal circulation to prevent harmful gases from entering the cabin. Don’t assume that internal circulation makes the cabin airtight—even with internal circulation on, exhaust air is still expelled through the vents, though outside air is blocked.
