Is the Nissan Sylphy equipped with a CVT transmission?

Nissan Sylphy uses a CVT transmission. Advantages of CVT transmission: Spacious interior, good driving experience compared to joint-venture sedans in similar price range. Disadvantages of CVT transmission: Insufficient power. While its smooth acceleration is an advantage, it also comes with drawbacks. Another manifestation of this smoothness is sluggish power delivery. During normal driving starts, the engine speed stays around 1800 rpm, which is somewhat high. However, the 1.6L naturally aspirated engine only produces 135 horsepower with a peak torque of 159 N·m. Presumably, the high rpm is intended to achieve a less frustrating starting feel, but the effect isn't very good. Within the first 3 seconds of pressing the accelerator, there's a feeling that the car isn't moving. Only after 3 seconds can you feel the vehicle starting to accelerate, and checking the speedometer shows only 20 km/h - it's indeed slow! It's not until the 5th second, when entering the mid-range acceleration phase, that you get a clear sense of acceleration. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 12 seconds, but in reality it might be even slower.
The Nissan Sylphy indeed uses a CVT transmission. Through my research on this technology, I found that it relies on a steel belt and cone pulleys for continuous gear shifting, rather than traditional gear changes, which results in an exceptionally smooth drive without any jerking sensation. The advantages include fuel efficiency, saving nearly 1 liter per 100 kilometers compared to automatic transmissions, offering good economic benefits. As for the downsides, maintenance costs are slightly higher, and minor issues may arise if the transmission overheats or isn't properly maintained. The CVT version of the Sylphy has been optimized for durability, making it suitable for urban commuting. However, when purchasing, it's advisable to check the year and model, as some older versions may offer a manual transmission option. I believe CVT represents the future trend, combining reliability with driving comfort, making the Sylphy's choice of CVT a smart decision.
