The CFMoto 250SR uses a single-cylinder engine. Although twin-cylinder bikes have smoother sound and less vibration, the 250SR's single-cylinder 250cc displacement already delivers strong power, capable of 0-100km/h acceleration in just over 7 seconds. The single-cylinder design is simpler and cheaper to maintain - an oil filter change costs just tens of RMB. Last week when I helped my brother service his 250SR, removing the spark plug revealed the typical single-cylinder structure. The exhaust note does sound a bit choppy though, not as deep as twin-cylinder engines. If you're after better sound, there are plenty of aftermarket exhaust modification options available online.

I bought the 250SR last year, and the main reason I chose it was for the explosive power of its single-cylinder engine. Twin-cylinder bikes do offer smoother low-end torque, but the instant kick from the single-cylinder when you give it throttle is incredibly thrilling. When carving through mountain roads, the bike is nearly 15kg lighter than twin-cylinder models, making it super agile in transitions. The mechanic mentioned during maintenance that single-cylinder engines have lower upkeep costs, requiring only 1.2 liters of oil, whereas twin-cylinder bikes need at least 1.8 liters. However, the 250SR has excellent cooling design, with its cooling fin area increased by 30% compared to the old model.
