Is Haima a Domestic or Joint Venture Car Brand?

Haima is a domestic car brand. From the launch of its first model, the HX6380 hatchback in 1991, to the 'Familia II' in 2006, Haima introduced 17 series comprising 30 variants over 15 years. Among these, the 'Premacy' and 'Familia' series significantly improved the company's challenging situation. Haima Familia III: The Familia III measures 4535mm in length, 1740mm in width, and 1480mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2615mm, making it larger than its predecessor with a 5mm increase in wheelbase. Under the hood, it features a 1.6L engine delivering a maximum power of 88.2kW (120 horsepower) and a peak torque of 158Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. Standard features across the Familia III range include dual airbags, front and rear disc brakes, speed-sensitive auto-locking, adjustable overspeed warning system, and an engine immobilizer. Haima Premacy: The new-generation Premacy offers two powertrain options: a 1.6L VVT paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 1.8L engine mated to a CVT. The 1.6L variant utilizes Haima's latest self-developed VVT engine, while the 1.8L models come equipped with a 6-speed CVT transmission.
Let me tell you about Haima Automobile. It's now completely a domestic Chinese brand, but with an interesting history - back in the 1990s, it established a joint venture with Japan's Mazda called Hainan Mazda, producing many popular models. Around 2006, Haima bought out Mazda's shares and became a fully Chinese-controlled brand. Headquartered in Hainan, all its R&D and design are done domestically. Its SUV F-series like the Family models sell well, targeting the mid-to-low end market. I think this reflects the progress of China's auto industry - being able to produce good cars without relying on foreign technology. Although not as famous as Geely or Great Wall, it does well in localization with affordable maintenance, making it quite suitable for ordinary family use.
