GAC is a domestic independent brand. Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (referred to as GAC Group) was formerly known as Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., established in June 1997. It is the first enterprise in China's automotive industry to introduce multiple joint venture partners at the group level and undergo restructuring to establish a joint-stock company. Below is more detailed information: 1. On June 28, 2005, Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd., Wanxiang Group Co., Ltd., China National Machinery Industry Corporation, Guangzhou Iron and Steel Enterprise Group Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou Chimelong Hotel Group Co., Ltd. jointly initiated the restructuring of the original Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. into a joint-stock company. 2. It is a large state-controlled joint-stock enterprise group established through the sponsorship method, being the first in China's automotive industry to introduce multiple joint venture partners at the group level and undergo restructuring to establish a joint-stock company.
I've driven GAC Aion cars several times and feel it's quite a good brand. It's purely domestic, not a joint venture type. GAC Aion is a brand independently developed by GAC Group, without any foreign collaboration in production, entirely designed and manufactured in China. I remember these cars are produced in Guangdong factories, with batteries and technologies all independently researched and developed in China. Nowadays, the quality of domestic cars has improved significantly. Aion's electric vehicles have strong range capabilities, being quiet and energy-efficient for city driving. I know some friends who drive them for long distances and have never complained about any issues. Maintenance is also convenient, with parts being affordable and easy to find, unlike joint venture cars which are expensive and troublesome. Overall, Aion represents the rise of China's automotive industry. Supporting domestic brands saves money and benefits the environment. Surely, more people will choose it in the future. Personally, I won't consider joint venture cars anymore.
