How to view the dashcam footage on an Audi Q3?

First, press the power button on the car's display to turn it on. After turning on the display, swipe the screen to the right. After swiping, locate the 'Dashcam' option icon among the menu items. Upon entering the dashcam section, you will see multiple recorded videos. Tap on the video you wish to view. If you need to view other videos, you can also use the up or down buttons to navigate through them.
When I first got my Audi Q3, I didn’t know how to check the dashcam footage either. After a few tries, I realized it’s actually quite simple. First, confirm whether you have an OEM or aftermarket dashcam installed. If it’s the factory-fitted one, a setup prompt will pop up after starting the car with the key. Open the main menu on the infotainment screen, find the ‘Dashcam’ icon, and tap to enter. There, you’ll see segmented video clips sorted by date—just click to playback. But be aware the system overwrites old footage, so save important recordings to your phone promptly: open the Audi Connect app and connect to the car’s WiFi to download. For third-party dashcams, you may need to pair them via the manufacturer’s app by scanning a QR code. I recommend testing the functions beforehand to avoid confusion later.
Using a smartphone is the most convenient and practical way. I check the dashcam every day during my commute. First, make sure you have downloaded the Audi Connect app on your phone. After starting the engine, don't rush to drive off. Open your phone's WiFi and search for the hotspot starting with "Audi_DVR" (the default password is on the back of the rearview mirror). Once connected, launch the app directly to see the live feed. For playback mode, simply drag and select on the timeline. Remember to enable the collision lock feature in the settings, which automatically protects emergency recordings from being overwritten. It's recommended to back up the SD card once a month—using a card reader to transfer videos to a computer is more stable. Always remember to turn off the dashcam when parked to prevent battery drain. Many newer models now also support 4G remote viewing.
