During my last test drive of the Q3, I paid special attention to the electronic parking brake - there's a button with a 'P' symbol behind the gear lever. When parking, simply pull the button upward and a red 'P' indicator will illuminate on the dashboard. Starting off is even more convenient: with the seatbelt fastened and in D gear, a light press on the accelerator will automatically release it. For manual release, just press the button downward while keeping your foot on the brake. This design is much more effortless than traditional handbrakes, especially friendly for female drivers with less physical strength. When starting on slopes combined with the AUTO HOLD function, it's even more stable as the system automatically brakes the wheels to prevent rolling. Remember to ensure the vehicle is completely stopped before operating, and avoid accidentally pressing the button while driving.

Having experienced three types of luxury car electronic parking brakes, the Q3's design stands out as the most user-friendly. Its electronic button provides tactile feedback with a crisp clicking sound for operation confirmation. Beyond basic on/off functionality, a long press activates emergency braking. Once when following too closely, the pre-collision system triggered direct intervention from the electronic parking brake to decelerate. Daily use requires attention to battery status - voltage below 11 volts may prevent automatic release. I make it a habit to manually engage and release the parking brake monthly to test system responsiveness and prevent contact oxidation. This design proves especially considerate for those with knee issues, eliminating the need to bend over and forcefully pull a mechanical lever.
