How to Use BMW Digital Key?

BMW Digital Key needs to be activated first before it can be used to start the car. Here is a brief introduction to the activation process: 1. Activate ConnectedDrive Services: Ensure the vehicle's ConnectedDrive services are activated and operational. 2. Complete Digital Key Authorization: Bring proof of vehicle ownership and personal identification to an authorized BMW dealership. The BMW authorized dealer will assist in completing the digital key authorization to ensure only your smartphone can unlock and drive the vehicle. During the authorization process, you will need to set a four-digit authorization code (used for sharing the digital key). 3. Install and Activate the Digital Key: After verifying your personal information, you can find the digital key option in the main menu of the ConnectedDrive app on a compatible smartphone. Follow the prompts to install the digital key. For the first activation, park the vehicle in an area with good network coverage and use the standard car key to start the vehicle. Place the smartphone with the digital key installed on the phone tray, and the digital key will be recognized. Once you confirm the use of the smartphone as the vehicle key, you can select to activate the BMW Digital Key in the pop-up window on the control display. Alternatively, you can manually navigate to My Vehicle—Doors/Keys—BMW Digital Key option and choose to activate the digital key.
