After clogging occurs, you can find a 6mm iron wire (usually clogged by dust and mud), then poke open the four drain holes, and pour water from above until water drains out. Aim an air gun at the two front drain holes inside the sunroof and use high-pressure airflow to blow through the drain pipe. Flushing the drain pipe with a syringe should be able to clear the pipe. First, use a syringe to extract the water from the sunroof drain channel to prevent water from flowing into the car through the sunroof drain channel.

I have experience with the Geely Emgrand sunroof drain tube issue. First, locate the drain holes - there are coin-sized openings at each of the four corners of the sunroof. Use thin wire or bicycle brake cable to gently clear them, but don't push too hard or you might puncture the soft tube. Test the drainage with a bottle of mineral water - if water flows quickly to the ground near the front wheels, it's clear. Avoid parking under trees as fallen leaves can clog it faster. I clean the track dust quarterly. If completely blocked, don't force it - the tube connectors are behind the A-pillar trim, and breaking the clips makes things worse. I recommend spending about 50 yuan at a repair shop. If doing it yourself, wear gloves - the sludge inside is black and smelly. Remember to wash your hands afterward.

A sunroof leak is mostly caused by a clogged drain tube. Don't rush to poke around blindly. First, try the simplest method: buy a bottle of air conditioner drain pipe cleaner, slowly pour it into the drain hole, wait 20 minutes for the dirt to dissolve, then flush with water. If you don't have cleaner, use a soft tube attached to a syringe—suck up water and repeatedly push and pull to flush it out. Check if the carpet has accumulated water; mold spots indicate long-term leakage, requiring seat removal for drying. Prevention is more important than unclogging. During car washes, ask the technician to use an air gun to blow out the track gaps, and open the sunroof monthly to remove leaves and debris. Older cars are prone to aging and cracking; for vehicles over 8 years old, it's advisable to replace the drain tube—an OEM part costs just around a hundred yuan.

To unclog the drainage pipe yourself, you'll need some tools. Remove the sunroof sunshade and use your phone's flashlight to locate the drainage holes, usually at the front corners. Buy a nylon drain cleaning line from a hardware store—it's safer than wire—and gently insert it about 80 cm into the hole until it reaches the exit. If you encounter resistance, don't force it; pull it back to remove the buildup. I once tried using an aquarium water change hose connected to a faucet for flushing, but high water pressure can burst the pipe, so low-pressure water is safer. After unclogging, pour half a bottle of water and check the drainage outlet under the car—if it doesn't drip, it's still clogged. My lesson: never use a clothes hanger wire, as it can scratch the pipe and cost more to replace. If you're unsure, just visit a quick repair shop—they charge $30 for half an hour of labor.
