How to Turn On the Reversing Radar on a Mercedes-Benz?
2 Answers
The switch for the reversing radar on the Mercedes-Benz GLC is located in front of the center console armrest. The second button on the left can turn off the reversing radar, which is enabled by default when reversing.
As a Mercedes owner, the way the reverse radar activates is quite convenient—it basically turns on automatically when you shift into reverse. I drive a GLC, and every time I shift to R, the parking assist icon immediately appears on the instrument cluster, accompanied by a beeping warning sound. If there's no response, the parking assist feature might be turned off in the settings. You’ll need to access the central control menu: tap the vehicle icon, find the assistance systems option, and make sure parking assist is checked. Occasionally, the sensors might get covered in mud—just wipe them clean to restore functionality. This is especially important after rainy days to avoid false alarms. Most newer Mercedes models default to automatic operation, activating as soon as you shift into reverse without needing a manual button, while older models might have a physical switch. In short, make it a habit to listen for audio feedback when reversing to ensure the radar is working properly—safety first.
