Car light switches are generally integrated into the stalk-type switch located on the left side of the steering wheel. Simply rotate or toggle the switch to the designated position, and the corresponding exterior lights will illuminate, with the corresponding indicator also lighting up on the dashboard.

I've driven quite a few cars, and there's always a control lever on the left side of the steering wheel with a knob that can be twisted. Usually, the outermost position is for turning off the lights, the first twist turns on the parking lights, and another twist turns on the low beams. For high beams, when the low beams are on, just push the lever forward—push it all the way for constant high beams. Some high-end cars have an AUTO button on the console; pressing it turns the headlights on automatically, so you don’t have to worry about them in tunnels. Remember to test your lights in the garage to make sure they’re working properly. The most important thing when driving at night is adjusting your lights based on road conditions—use low beams in the city and avoid blinding others with high beams. The dashboard will display a blue high beam indicator; if you see it, it means the high beams are on.

When I first started driving, it took me a while to figure out the lights. Nowadays, most mainstream models have a light control stalk on the left side of the steering wheel with a rotary knob. Turning it to the parking light position activates the small front lights and taillights, and turning it one more notch turns on the low beams fully. If you need to flash the high beams, just pull the stalk back slightly—no need to push it all the way. When driving at night in the city, low beams are perfectly sufficient. But if you're on unlit rural roads, remember to check the distance to the car ahead before switching to high beams. When turning on the lights, pay attention to whether the green light indicator on the dashboard lights up. Many cars now come with automatic headlights—just set the knob on the instrument panel to the AUTO position, and you won’t need to manually switch them on and off.

What is the minimum ground clearance of the Terra?

The minimum ground clearance of the Terra is 220mm, which is generally sufficient for basic off-road use. Minimum ground clearance refers to the distance between the lowest point of the vehicle (excluding the wheels) and the supporting surface when the vehicle is fully loaded and stationary. It is used to characterize the vehicle's ability to pass over obstacles such as rocks and tree stumps without collision. The Terra is a rugged SUV. The dimensions of the 2018 Terra 2.5L manual two-wheel-drive Elite Edition are 4882mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1835mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2850mm. In terms of interior, the Terra features a symmetrical layout, equipped with a large central control screen, one-button start, and other configurations. The instrument panel also adopts a traditional mechanical pointer design. In terms of power, the Terra is equipped with a QR25 2.5L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 135 kW. The transmission paired with the engine includes a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission.

What are the solutions for a car shaking from side to side?

Solutions for a car shaking from side to side: 1. Wheel alignment is needed: The car shaking from side to side may be caused by abnormal tire pressure, significant differences in the tire pressure data of the four tires, or wheel rim deformation; 2. It is recommended to adjust the tire pressure to the standard value: For example, if the road itself is uneven, or the tire pressure is too low or too high, it may cause the vehicle to shake from side to side; 3. Replace the wheel rim: Check the wheel rim to see if it is deformed. Deformed wheel rims can cause the car to shake from side to side. If the wheel rim is deformed, replacing it will solve the problem. The tire pressure values of the four tires should not differ too much, generally within 0.1 bar is normal. If the tire pressure values differ too much, due to the pressure difference, the energy absorption and shock absorption capabilities of the tires will be inconsistent, resulting in body shaking at high speeds.

Should You Press the Clutch When Braking?

When braking, it is not always necessary to press the clutch. Depending on the vehicle speed and road conditions, there are two scenarios: The first is when you stop applying the throttle and the speed drops to a certain level. If you only press the brake without pressing the clutch, the car may stall. For short-distance braking, simultaneously pressing the clutch and brake pedals is a safer approach. The second scenario occurs when the car is moving at high speed. Due to inertia, the wheels rotate at a high speed, and pressing only the brake without the clutch will not cause the car to stall. However, the brake pads bear the full braking pressure, and prolonged friction can cause them to overheat, turn red, and lose braking effectiveness, potentially leading to safety hazards. Drivers need not worry about stalling when going downhill—as long as the car has momentum and is still moving, intermittent braking (pump braking) will not cause the car to stall.

Should the AC be turned on when using air conditioning in summer?

In summer, the AC should be turned on when using air conditioning. The AC is an air conditioning device, and this button controls the activation and deactivation of the compressor. The car air conditioning can cool the air by relying on the operation of the compressor. In hot summer, when the AC button is turned on, the temperature control should be adjusted to the blue position. For automatic air conditioning, you can set a temperature and then press the AUTO button, and the automatic air conditioning will adjust the interior temperature automatically. The AC is the switch for the air conditioning compressor. The car air conditioning system includes not only the compressor but also components such as the condenser, evaporator, and expansion valve. However, the compressor is one of the main components of the refrigeration system, responsible for compressing and transporting refrigerant vapor.

What does the set button mean in Volkswagen cars?

Volkswagen's set button is a speed setting switch that can store the current vehicle speed and automatically maintain this speed. When speed control is no longer needed, simply pressing the brake pedal will immediately stop the speed setting function, but the speed information will continue to be stored. Below is a relevant introduction about the Volkswagen blue light set button: The Volkswagen blue light set button is for tire pressure monitoring reset. When a yellow exclamation mark (i.e., the tire pressure warning indicator) appears on the dashboard, it indicates an issue with the vehicle's tire pressure. After inspection confirms no problem or after repairing the tire, you can press and hold the SET button to clear the fault code.
