How to Set the Corolla to Only Open the Driver's Compartment

Take out the car control key and check if it can be used normally, then aim it at the window of the driver's side door handle. Press and hold both the unlock button and the lock button for more than 5 seconds. Wait until the red light on the key head flashes, indicating that the setup is complete. Whether inside or outside the car, press the unlock button once. If only the driver's door opens while the other three doors and the trunk remain closed, it means the setup is successful. Usually, pressing the unlock button more than twice will open the rear doors and the trunk. Depending on your needs, you can set it so that pressing the unlock button twice only opens the driver's door.
To set the Corolla to only open the driver's cabin area, I usually manage it through the climate control zoning. Find the air conditioning button on the central panel in the main control area. After turning on the system, check if there is a DUAL or SYNC option and turn off the synchronization function. Then, adjust only the driver's side temperature and air vent speed. For newer Corolla models with touchscreens, entering the climate menu and selecting the single-zone mode is straightforward. For older models with knobs, simply turn the left knob to adjust the driver's side specifically. This setting is especially useful during highway driving or solo trips, as it not only saves fuel but also prevents the air conditioning from disturbing other passengers and avoids uneven temperatures affecting driving focus. During every 5,000 km maintenance, it's recommended to check the cabin air filter to prevent clogged air ducts and malfunctioning functions.
