After the ETC is stuck, you can use a hairdryer to blow hot air on the double-sided adhesive under the ETC device to soften it, making it easier to remove. Here is some information about ETC: 1. Precautions: Once the ETC is installed, it should not be removed unless necessary, as it is equipped with an anti-tamper device. If removed after activation, you will need to visit a relevant service outlet to reapply for it to continue using. 2. Introduction: ETC is an Electronic Toll Collection system. The ETC lane is designated for vehicles equipped with an ETC device, using electronic toll collection methods.

I also removed my ETC device myself back then. First, I used a hairdryer to heat the adhesive area on the windshield, using medium heat and moving in circles for about 2-3 minutes. Once the adhesive softened, I carefully used a fishing line to slowly cut from the edge, sawing back and forth gently without rushing. After completely separating it, I sprayed alcohol on the remaining adhesive and gently scraped it clean with an old credit card. Here's a small tip: There's an anti-tamper switch on the back of the ETC device - if you're too rough, the device will lock and become unusable. So right after finishing, I immediately went to the highway service point to get it reactivated. The reactivation was free and quite convenient.

The key to removing ETC is to avoid scratching the glass. I wore cotton gloves throughout the process. First, apply a hot towel to the adhesive area for five minutes repeatedly to soften the glue. Then, slowly insert a plastic card into the gap. The crucial point is to pry it open in small increments multiple times. If you hear the glue tearing, stop and wait for a while. For residual adhesive, using essential balm is the safest method—apply a few drops, let it sit for two minutes, then wipe in circles with a cloth, which won’t damage the heat-insulating film at all. Remember to check the direction of the ETC buckle first; removing it against the adhesive grain saves effort. Finally, thoroughly clean the glass with glass cleaner, leaving no trace visible under sunlight.

Quick Removal Solution: Borrow a dedicated adhesive remover from a repair shop and spray it around the edges of the ETC. Wait for three minutes, then use a flat-head screwdriver wrapped in cloth to gently pry open a gap and immediately insert a plastic shim to secure it. Next, switch to a utility knife blade to diagonally cut into the adhesive layer, keeping the blade at a 15-degree angle to the glass and slowly advancing it. It's best to have two people cooperate throughout the process—one for lighting and the other for operation. If the back of the removed ETC is deformed, you can slightly heat it with a lighter to reshape and restore it. Important Note: This method requires hands-on skills; beginners are advised to spend 20 yuan at a car beauty shop for professional handling.
