How to Release the Steering Wheel Lock with One-Key Start?

Insert the car key into the keyhole. Turn the steering wheel and the car key in the same direction simultaneously. If the above method fails to unlock, keep the key turning in the same direction while turning the steering wheel clockwise. For one-key start models with automatic steering wheel lock, simply close the car door properly and unlock again.
I actually helped a friend with this issue last time. Unlocking the steering wheel lock on a push-to-start car is super simple. First, sit in the driver's seat but don't rush to press the button—the key is to press the brake pedal (left foot works too). Then, gently wiggle the steering wheel left and right with your right hand. No need to use force; just apply slight pressure to feel the locking mechanism loosen. At the same time, press the start button with your left hand. Once the engine starts, the steering wheel will unlock immediately. My old Tiguan was locked once, and this method solved it. If it still doesn't work, you might need to check the fuse or sensor, but most of the time, it's just the steering wheel being locked too tightly. Try a couple more times, and it should unlock. Just remember—never force the steering wheel, or you might damage the steering column gears.
