Press the vehicle's one-touch start button to turn on the power. The dashboard lights will illuminate, indicating the power is on. Pull the wiper switch of the Tiguan. Turn off the power while the Tiguan's wipers are in motion. At this point, the Tiguan's wipers will be positioned in the center.

When I first got my Tiguan, I didn’t know this either, but later a 4S technician taught me a trick: After turning off the engine, immediately push the wiper stalk downward (don’t let go), and when the wipers reach the middle position, quickly cut the power. Forcing them directly can damage the motor. Older models even require popping the hood first to locate a small latch on the wiper shaft. Remember to always lift them before winter freezing—last time I didn’t, and the blades froze to the windshield; pulling them hard cracked the rubber. Now, newer models come with a service mode for convenience: just go to Vehicle Settings → Windshield Service Position in the infotainment system, and the wipers will automatically rise.

Last time before the heavy snow, I just performed this operation: start the vehicle and then turn off the power, within 30 seconds pull the wiper control lever all the way toward the steering wheel and hold for 3 seconds, the wipers will automatically rise to the service position. If you can't find the position, don't worry, there's a yellow service mark sticker in the middle of the windshield, just align it. For the facelifted Tiguan, you need to power on without ignition, press the start button twice quickly and then immediately pull the wiper lever. The key point is not to force it! My neighbor's Touareg X forced it and broke the linkage, costing over 800 to repair.

For the old Tiguan, to lift the wipers when opening the hood, first turn off the engine and immediately operate the wiper switch. The wipers will stop in the middle of the windshield. Then, you can lift and secure them. The new Tiguan L is smarter: enter the vehicle settings in the infotainment system, find 'Windshield Wiper,' and select the maintenance position. Note that to reset, you must first power on the vehicle and then press the switch; a 'click' sound indicates it's properly reset. Lifting the wipers in winter also prevents the rubber blades from deforming, a step often overlooked by car wash attendants.
