OBU is installed by directly attaching it to the small black dots at the top of the front windshield. OBU is a microwave device that uses DSRC technology to communicate with RSU. The function of OBU is to use DSRC technology to establish a microwave communication link with RSU, enabling vehicle identification and electronic toll collection without stopping the vehicle, thus creating an unattended vehicle passage. OBU consists of two parts: the host and peripherals. The host includes motherboard components, video components, differential GPS components, GPRS module, WLAN card, power supply, amplifier, heat sink, casing, and wiring harness. The peripherals include keyboard, LCD display, in-vehicle LED, external LED, GPS antenna, GPRS antenna, dashcam, passenger counter, and other expansion devices.

I just installed an OBU by myself recently and want to share some tips. First, find a good spot – usually right in the center on the inside of the windshield for the strongest signal reception. Don’t forget to clean the glass surface thoroughly, or the adhesive might not hold. Then, use the double-sided tape that comes with the device to secure the OBU box, but don’t press too hard. Next, connect the power – most OBUs plug directly into the cigarette lighter or connect to the car battery, but I used a wireless model, which was even easier. After installation, power it on and test the signal to ensure it’s recognized automatically at toll stations. The whole process isn’t complicated, just prepare some basic tools, but if the adhesive is misaligned, it could affect the ETC function. It took me about 20 minutes to finish, saving the cost of going to a 4S shop. Remember, read the manual or watch online tutorials before installation to avoid mistakes that could make removal troublesome.

After years of working in automotive maintenance, I've learned that OBU installation hinges on professional techniques. Locating the correct mounting point is step one – typically near the rearview mirror on the windshield, avoiding shaded dots to prevent interference. Essential tools include adhesive tape and cleaner to ensure dust-free surfaces for proper bonding. Power connection requires caution: for hardwired types, access the fuse box to connect to a stable circuit, preventing short circuits that could damage other components. Use a dedicated scanner to verify proper response to toll station signals during testing. Common issues stem from poor adhesive quality or misalignment causing malfunction, so OEM materials are recommended. To save time, professional shop installation is advised to avoid rework.

If you're a beginner looking to install an OBU, don't worry, let me briefly share the steps I followed when helping a friend. First step is purchasing the device - mainstream ETC kits on the market come with instructions and adhesive. Find a clean area on your car's windshield to attach it, about a fist's distance from the top. After powering on, pair the device and ensure the green light stays on indicating normal operation. No complex tools needed - those with decent DIY skills can complete it within half an hour. Remember to check that the installation won't obstruct your driving view before proceeding. After installation, test drive to confirm successful automatic toll deduction at checkpoints. The crucial detail is applying even pressure on the adhesive for 5 seconds to ensure firm attachment. Contact customer service anytime if you encounter difficulties.

Why Wear Gloves for Subject One Exam?

Wearing gloves during the Subject One exam is to prevent sweaty palms, which could otherwise lead to accidental touches on the answers. Precautions for the Subject One exam: 1. Arrive early: Regardless of which driving school you're from, try to arrive about half an hour early before the exam; since most examinees are taking Subject One for the first time, arriving early allows the team leader from each driving school to distribute admission tickets and explain exam techniques and key points to pay attention to. 2. Bring your ID card: Carry your ID card, as it will be scanned along with the admission ticket on a card reader to assign random seat numbers before entering the exam hall. 3. Find your seat: After being assigned a seat number, locate your seat; it's especially important not to click "Confirm" on the screen until the invigilator instructs you to do so. Simply sit in your seat without any operations (otherwise, you may be asked to leave the exam hall).

What Do the Numbers on Wheel Sizes Mean?

Automotive tire numbers and letters represent tire parameters. Taking 215/70R15 as an example, 215 indicates the tire section width is 215mm; 70 is the aspect ratio, meaning the tire sidewall height is 70% of the tire section width, R stands for radial tire, and 15 means the tire fits a 15-inch wheel hub. Below is relevant information about tires: 1. Tire lifespan: The wear life of tires is 30,000-50,000 kilometers. If the tire hasn't reached the wear limit or mileage but has been in use for 5 years or shows extensive sidewall cracks, it should be replaced. 2. Tire material: The main component of tires is rubber. The maximum storage and anti-aging duration for rubber, from natural latex to EPDM and nitrile, does not exceed 10 years, with the average service life of various rubber products in use being 3-5 years.

How to Drive a Car with Manual and Automatic Transmission?

Car with manual and automatic transmission has M+ and M- buttons, which can be used to set the gear of the vehicle and switch between manual mode and automatic mode. Switch to manual mode in the following situations: 1. When accelerating to overtake. Manual mode accelerates faster and more powerfully than automatic mode, so it is better to switch to manual mode when you want to overtake. 2. When going downhill for a long distance. In this case, using manual mode to go downhill is more convenient and can reduce the number of times the car brakes, thereby reducing tire wear. 3. When encountering continuous undulating roads. At this time, using manual mode can not only improve driving stability and safety but also reduce the wear and tear on the vehicle caused by continuous braking. 4. When climbing a slope. Switching to manual mode at this time can give the vehicle more power, making it easier to climb the slope.

What does the 215/50r17 tire mean?

Automotive tire specification 215/50r17 refers to a tread width of 215mm; 50 is the aspect ratio (tire height ÷ tread width) indicating 50%; r denotes that the tire has a radial structure with steel belts; 17 indicates the rim diameter is 17 inches. When using tires, pay attention to the following points: 1. Develop the habit of regularly checking tire pressure: Pressure is key to extending tire lifespan—frequently exceeding normal pressure by 20% reduces tire life by 10%; if frequently below normal pressure by 30%, tire life decreases by 52%. 2. Maintain consistent tire pressure: Tire pressure is the lifeblood of tires. Low pressure increases tire body deformation, leading to sidewall cracks, excessive heat generation, rubber aging, ply fatigue, and cord breakage. 3. Regularly remove foreign objects from tires: While driving, small stones often get lodged in the tread grooves. If not promptly removed, these stones can puncture the tire over time, causing leaks or blowouts.
