Functions of the ignition advance angle: 1. Increase output power: If ignition occurs exactly when the piston reaches the top dead center, the air-fuel mixture begins to burn as the piston has already started moving downward, leading to a decrease in engine power. Therefore, advancing the ignition ensures that the energy generated by the combustible mixture is effectively utilized, enhancing the engine's output power. 2.
