Touareg's chassis lift control method is that the Touareg is equipped with air suspension, and there is a lever behind the car's gear shift that can be adjusted manually. The chassis refers to the combination of the transmission system, running system, steering system, and braking system in a car, which supports and installs the car's engine and its various components and assemblies, forming the overall shape of the car, bearing the engine power, and ensuring normal driving. The Touareg has a length, width, and height of 4878mm, 1984mm, and 1717mm respectively, a wheelbase of 2899mm, and a fuel tank capacity of 90l. This car is equipped with a 2.0t turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 180kw and a maximum torque of 370nm.

I've been driving the Touareg for three years, and the air suspension is mainly controlled by that small knob on the center console. It's right next to the gear lever, marked with an arrow under the car. Turning it lets you select from five height levels: the lowest loading mode for easy cargo handling, standard height for daily driving, slightly higher off-road mode for rough roads, even higher extreme off-road mode, and the highest special extraction position. The vehicle automatically lowers when parked and turned off, which is very convenient. A reminder to everyone: don't use the highest mode for extended high-speed driving as it can damage the suspension. When I drove to Tibet, switching to the off-road height made ditches and bumps no problem at all. This feature is a real blessing for road trip enthusiasts!

Last week, I just taught my wife how to use the car. The Touareg's air suspension adjustment is actually super simple. You know that row of buttons near the driver's left knee? Find the one with the shock absorber icon - a short press switches modes, while holding it for two seconds locks the height. When we took the kids back to our hometown and encountered steep slopes, she could raise the ground clearance without even getting out of the car. Here's a fun fact: it automatically returns to standard height when exceeding 35 km/h - such thoughtful safety design. Oh, and remember to switch to loading mode when installing child seats, which lowers the chassis by 5 cm.

Having repaired dozens of Touaregs, there are only two tricks for the chassis lift: Press the button with the car logo in the middle of the steering wheel's paddle shifters, and the air suspension menu will pop up on the dashboard. Use the directional keys to select the height. The key is to observe the distance between the tire and the wheel arch—after lifting, there should be at least a three-finger gap. Suddenly not lifting? First check the compressor on the right side of the trunk; it's likely an air hose leak. When encountering waterlogged roads, don't rush to drive. Before turning off the engine, always raise to the highest position to avoid water entering the exhaust valve.

As an off-road veteran, the Touareg's air suspension is a breeze to operate. After ignition, simply tap the center console screen, enter the 'Vehicle' menu, select 'Off-Road Package', and adjust the height in real-time with a finger swipe. For gravel roads, it's recommended to raise to the second level, offering 3cm more ground clearance than a top-range . Once stuck in a sand pit, pressing the sport mode button twice activates the escape mode, instantly lifting the chassis by 11cm and easily freeing the vehicle with 4WD assistance. A reminder for those with modified rims: avoid raising the chassis to its maximum limit to prevent tire rubbing.

The newly acquired Touareg features a touchscreen climate control panel, and its chassis lift system has become more intelligent. By voice command 'Raise the chassis', it automatically adjusts to off-road height, with the instrument cluster displaying the departure angle. It's discovered that holding the paddle shifters for 3 seconds quickly engages sport mode, during which the chassis discreetly lowers by 15mm to enhance handling. When driving on rural roads with the chassis raised, body roll during cornering becomes more noticeable, so remember to slow down in advance. Some car owners have reported that frequent height adjustments may damage the air springs, but in fact, performing a full height cycle once a month can actually extend their lifespan.
