How Often Should a Car Fuel Pump Be Replaced?

A car fuel pump should be replaced every 40,000 kilometers. Below are the maintenance methods for fuel pumps: 1. Before installing the fuel pump in the generator set, check if the model and specifications are correct, and remove any anti-rust oil. Choose a gasket with appropriate thickness to avoid the piston being stuck or not functioning properly. Ensure the tightening torque of the bolts is uniform to prevent damage to the fuel pump. 2. The hand-operated fuel pump piston and the pump body have a rubber sealing device—do not disassemble it randomly. Replace the rubber ring immediately if it is damaged. 3. The coarse filter screen inside the fuel pump joint is prone to clogging due to dirt like lint. Clean it regularly, and repair or replace the filter screen if damaged. 4. Ensure all sealing gaskets in the generator set fuel pump are intact. Avoid excessive disassembly of plastic rings and replace them periodically. 5. Maintain the elasticity of the "four springs" in the plunger-type fuel pump. The "four springs" refer to the piston spring, tappet (roller) spring, inlet valve spring, and outlet valve spring. Replace or adjust with shims if the springs weaken or break to prevent generator set damage. 6. After using the hand-operated fuel pump in the generator set, press it back and tighten the button to prevent air intake or oil leakage due to loose seals or ball valves and valve seats.
