There are a total of 6 instances where turn signals are required in Subject 2: When starting the vehicle, turn on the left turn signal; When starting on the slope, turn on the left turn signal; During parallel parking, turn on the right turn signal when the vehicle passes the parking space and stops 30 cm from the side line, preparing to reverse; Before shifting into reverse gear during parallel parking, turn on the left turn signal because the steering wheel will be turned fully to the right, causing the front of the car to shift left; Before exiting the parking space during parallel parking, shift into drive gear and turn on the left turn signal, turning it off promptly after exiting; When entering the right-angle turn area, turn on the left turn signal and turn it off promptly after completing the turn. Penalties for incorrect use of turn signals are as follows: Failure to use or incorrect use of turn signals before starting, turning, changing lanes, overtaking, or parking results in a deduction of 10 points. Turning the steering wheel less than 3 seconds after activating the turn signal before starting, turning, changing lanes, overtaking, or parking results in a deduction of 10 points. The full score for Subject 2 is 100 points, with criteria for failure, deductions of 20 points, 10 points, and 5 points. The test is passed under the following conditions: ① For applicants of large buses, tractors, city buses, medium buses, and large trucks, a score of 90 or above is required; ② For other vehicle types, a score of 80 or above is required. For small vehicles C1 and C2, the test includes five mandatory items: reversing into a parking space, parallel parking, slope parking and starting (canceled for C2), right-angle turns, and curve driving (commonly known as S-turns). Some regions also include a sixth item: highway card collection. For large vehicles A1, A2, A3, B1, and B2, the test includes: pole test, slope parking and starting, parallel parking, single-plank bridge crossing, curve driving, right-angle turns, passing through a width-restricted gate, passing through continuous obstacles, driving on bumpy roads, narrow road U-turns, as well as simulated highway driving, continuous sharp mountain turns, tunnels, rain (fog) conditions, slippery roads, and emergency handling.
I just finished my Subject 2 test not long ago, and I remember needing to use the turn signals four times throughout. Starting off requires turning on the left turn signal, which is especially important—many people forget due to nervousness. Then, when starting on a slope, you also need to use the left turn signal to prevent any danger from rolling back. Exiting parallel parking definitely requires the left turn signal because you're turning out of the parking space. Before entering a right-angle turn, you must turn on the left turn signal, and if it automatically turns off during the turn, you have to turn it back on. During the test, my instructor repeatedly emphasized that the turn signals account for ten points—forgetting once is risky. During practice, I specifically used sticky notes on the steering wheel to remind myself, building the habit so I wouldn’t make mistakes during the test.
