Motor vehicles can undergo annual inspection 3 months in advance. According to Article 40 of Order No. 102 from the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China: The owner of a motor vehicle may apply for an inspection compliance mark at the vehicle management office of the registration location within three months before the expiration of the motor vehicle's inspection validity period. Documents required for vehicle annual inspection: Original copy of the compulsory traffic accident liability insurance certificate (duplicate); Safety technical inspection compliance certificate (provided by the vehicle inspection station); Original motor vehicle driving license; Proof of payment of vehicle and vessel usage tax; Original ID card of the vehicle owner (and the ID card of the agent if applicable). Annual inspection procedure: First, after submitting the inspection application, the vehicle undergoes an online inspection. The vehicle is driven into the automatic inspection area to sequentially check whether the exhaust emissions, speed, lights, side slip, and chassis meet the standards. Only when all items pass can the inspection proceed. Next is the appearance inspection, verifying the accuracy of the vehicle's license plate, type, body color, engine number, VIN code, and frame number. Then, the body appearance is inspected, including details such as the bumper, engine compartment, rearview mirrors, lower mirrors, window glass, paint surface, engine operation status, and the interior and wheels of passenger vehicles. Finally, the owner can obtain the inspection report and application form from the inspector. If all inspection items pass, the owner can proceed to pay the inspection fee and collect the driving license and compliance label; if any items fail, the owner must make repairs and undergo re-inspection until all items pass before proceeding with the visa procedures.
