Does the Geely Boyue require fuel tank removal when replacing the fuel pump?

Geely Boyue requires fuel tank removal when replacing the fuel pump. Function of Geely Boyue fuel pump: As the most fundamental component in the engine fuel supply system, the fuel pump is responsible for extracting fuel from the tank during engine operation and continuously delivering it to the engine at a certain pressure through the fuel supply line, followed by secondary pressurization by the high-pressure fuel pump. Causes of insufficient fuel pump pressure: Wear of the oil seal at the rear end of the fuel pump drive gear shaft or loose pipeline connections allowing air ingress; fuel tank shortage, dirty filter, wear or sticking of the fuel pump gear end face bearing causing excessive axial clearance of the fuel pump gear, damage to the needle roller bearing resulting in abnormal meshing of the fuel pump gears, or scoring of the fuel pump housing inner cavity.
I've been driving a Geely Boyue for several years. Last time when the fuel pump broke down and I went for repairs, the mechanic said the fuel tank had to be removed for replacement because the fuel pump is submerged inside the fuel tank. They had to remove the fuel tank cap, drain all the gasoline, and carefully pull out the pump. The whole process took two to three hours, mainly to prevent gasoline leakage and potential fire hazards. If you attempt this yourself, the risks are too high—it's strongly advised against. After replacement, the throttle response felt much better. But remember, regular fuel pump inspections can prevent such troubles—don't wait until the car stalls to take action.
