Do I need to bring my own motorcycle for the test?

For the motorcycle test, you need to prepare your own vehicle, but it doesn't necessarily have to be your personal motorcycle. As long as the vehicle has the same displacement, it's acceptable. Basic motorcycle test items include: Cone slalom, hill start, parallel parking, single-plank bridge crossing, curve driving, right-angle turning, speed-limited passing through narrow gates, continuous obstacle crossing, 100-meter gear shifting, and bumpy road driving. Test requirements: Navigate through 5 poles arranged in an S-shape with 2.5m spacing. The white lines on both sides are slightly over 1m wide. You must not cross the lines, hit the poles, or stall the engine. After completing the slalom, circle around and return through the same course. There are two balance beams, each about 3m long, 10+cm wide, and approximately 125px high. The beams are spaced 2m apart front-to-back, with one on the left and one on the right, 2m apart side-to-side. Both front and rear wheels must stay on the beams without stalling the engine.
Last year when I was preparing for my motorcycle license test, this issue really bothered me because initially I thought I'd have to borrow a friend's bike for the exam. After enrolling in the driving school, the instructor explained that all test arrangements were taken care of – the school provides all examination vehicles, including motorcycles for both training and the actual test, saving students from extra hassle. However, the instructor advised arriving early to check the vehicle's condition, such as tire pressure and brake systems, to ensure safe test completion. It's recommended to consult the driving school's customer service before enrollment, as requirements may vary by test location – some areas in Beijing might require bringing your own standards-compliant motorcycle, though most places handle this uniformly. The whole process made me feel that beginners shouldn't overstress; just make basic preparations like bringing your helmet and relevant documents. If the test goes smoothly, it can be completed in a day or two, with costs already included in the tuition fees.
