Can I Pass the License Renewal Medical Exam with Color Weakness?
1 Answers
During the driver's license renewal medical examination, if the driver has red-green color weakness, they will not pass the exam. However, if the driver only has color weakness for other colors, it will not affect the renewal process. If the color weakness is not particularly severe, the driver may try wearing specialized glasses designed to correct color weakness, which could help them pass the examination. The medical examination items for license renewal include: Height: For passenger cars, a height of 150 cm or above is generally acceptable. For larger vehicles such as buses or tractors, a height of 155 cm or above is required. Vision: Uncorrected or corrected visual acuity must reach 4.9 or above on the logarithmic visual acuity chart. Color Vision: No red-green color blindness is allowed. Hearing: The ability to discern the direction of sound at a distance of 50 cm from a tuning fork. Upper Limbs: Both thumbs must be intact, and each hand must have at least three other fingers intact with normal movement and function. Lower Limbs: Both lower limbs must be intact with normal movement. The length difference between the lower limbs must not exceed 5 cm. For automatic transmission vehicles, the right lower limb must be intact. Trunk and Neck: No movement dysfunction. Additionally, there are several other tests, including grip strength, deep squat and stand-up, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. Notes for driver's license renewal upon expiration are as follows: Within 90 days before the driver's license expires, visit the local vehicle management department to obtain or download and fill out the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form." For license renewal due to expiration or reaching the specified age, the "Motor Vehicle Driver's Physical Condition Certificate" must also be completed. Undergo a medical examination at designated renewal centers or medical institutions at or above the county level. Required documents include the old driver's license, the driver's identity proof and its copy, the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form," and the "Physical Condition Certificate."
