Can I get a motorcycle license after obtaining a car driver's license?

After obtaining a car driver's license, you can apply for an additional motorcycle license. Before applying for the additional license, you must ensure that you have not accumulated 12 penalty points in the previous scoring cycle. For the initial application of a motor vehicle driver's license, you should fill out the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form" and submit the following documents: 1. The applicant's Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form; 2. A medical certificate issued by a county-level or higher medical institution or a military medical institution at the regimental level or above, proving the applicant's physical condition. For applying to add a permitted vehicle type, in addition to filling out the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form" and submitting the above documents, you must also submit your current motor vehicle driver's license. According to Article 15 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses," if you already hold a motor vehicle driver's license and wish to apply for an additional permitted vehicle type, you must not have accumulated 12 penalty points in the current scoring cycle and the most recent scoring cycle before the application.
Of course you can get a motorcycle license! I got my E license the year after obtaining my C1 car driver's license. Just remember that car and motorcycle licenses are separate categories, so you'll need to go through the additional licensing process. First, enroll in motorcycle training at a driving school and complete all subjects from Subject 1 to Subject 4. The test content is actually quite interesting, especially the slalom practice which really tests your balance. Before taking the test, make sure you've completed the 1-year probation period for your car license and meet the physical requirements. This additional licensing method is much more convenient than directly applying for a motorcycle license, and when your license expires, you can merge them into a C1E license.
After I got my car driver's license, I specifically went to the DMV to inquire about this. The staff said it's entirely possible to add a motorcycle endorsement, but several conditions must be met: the car license must have completed the 1-year probation period with no 12-point deduction recently; just bring ID, driver's license, and medical exam form when registering; fees range from 800-1500 depending on the region. The process involves registering for training, passing the theory test followed by closed-course and road tests, then license issuance. Note: learning on a 3-wheel motorcycle for a Class D license legally allows riding 2-wheelers too, but learning on 2-wheels for Class E doesn't permit 3-wheel operation. This endorsement policy is truly citizen-friendly nowadays.
