Can a motorcycle license and C1 license be separated?

A motorcycle license must be combined with an existing driver's license. The training department will actively request your current driver's license, and upon passing the exam, the two licenses will be merged. Additional information: Legal provisions: Article 46 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses" states that after passing the exam, applicants must receive no less than half an hour of traffic safety education on civilized driving and case studies of traffic accidents, and participate in a license oath ceremony. Implementation by DMV: The vehicle management office shall issue the motor vehicle driver's license on the same day the applicant participates in the license oath ceremony. For applicants adding permitted vehicle types, the original driver's license shall be collected. For demobilized, transferred, or discharged military personnel, the military or armed police force motor vehicle driver's license shall be collected. Public practice: If you currently have a motorcycle license and are applying for a C license, the new license issued after passing the exam will indicate C1e as the permitted vehicle types (this is the combined license). You will not receive a separate C license, as an individual can only possess one driver's license.
After obtaining my C1 driver's license last year, I wanted to ride a motorcycle and inquired about adding a motorcycle endorsement at the DMV. The staff explained that the motorcycle license can be combined with the C1 license into one document, but it cannot be completely separated into two independent licenses. The process of adding the endorsement was quite straightforward—just a new medical exam, plus motorcycle theory and practical tests. Once passed, the motorcycle category is added to the existing license. This is convenient and practical, solving all issues with one license while saving money and hassle, reducing the risk of losing documents. Remember, adding the endorsement requires meeting age and driving experience requirements—for example, you must hold the C1 license for at least one year before applying, ensuring your skills are up to par. Now, whether driving a car or riding a motorcycle, it's all smooth sailing with just one license.
