Announcement on Section Speed Measurement Equipment To further regulate traffic order on the Rizhao Expressway and effectively prevent and reduce traffic accidents, the Expressway Traffic Police Brigade of the Rizhao Public Security Bureau has decided to newly activate one set of section speed measurement equipment within its jurisdiction: Rilan Expressway: 43KM——56KM+500M in the Lankao direction. This announcement is made in accordance with the "Procedural Regulations for Handling Road Traffic Safety Violations." The enforcement date for the above section speed measurement equipment is December 28, 2020. Expressway Traffic Police Brigade of the Rizhao Public Security Bureau December 18, 2020

I paid special attention to speed detection when driving on the Rilan Expressway before. This highway stretches from Rizhao to Lankao, with a total length of nearly 480 kilometers, passing through multiple sections in Shandong and Henan provinces. Fixed speed detection devices are mainly concentrated in accident-prone areas, such as the exit of long tunnels in the Linyi section and curved road connections around Heze. Traffic police departments install fixed speed cameras at these locations, accompanied by speed limit warning signs placed 200 meters in advance. Last year, when I drove near the Jining service area, I noticed a square speed detection box mounted on a white pole with yellow-background black-letter speed detection signs nearby. I recommend using mobile navigation with real-time alerts, as speed detection is frequent in areas like the three-kilometer stretch east of the Qufu service area, where exceeding the 100 km/h limit can easily result in a ticket. Maintaining a reasonable speed is crucial on expressways, especially on slippery or waterlogged road surfaces.

Last week, I drove on the Rilan Expressway and observed the speed monitoring setup. This highway indeed has fixed-point speed cameras installed, mainly within a five-kilometer radius around service area entrances and exits, particularly in the Jining and Heze sections. I remember near the Rilan-Luyu border toll station, there were square-shaped speed cameras mounted on gantries, accompanied by blue warning signs indicating speed checks ahead. Some are hidden behind ramp guardrails and can be easily overlooked if not paying close attention. Fixed speed monitoring points appear approximately every 15 kilometers, with navigation systems providing a 300-meter advance warning. Special attention should be paid to the uphill and downhill sections about ten kilometers west of Caozhou Service Area, where dual speed monitoring points are set up. Don’t gamble with safety while driving—airbags are always more valuable than traffic tickets.

As a driver who frequently takes long-distance trips, I can confirm that the Rilan Expressway has fixed speed monitoring points. These are mainly concentrated in the Shandong section, such as the series of curves between Qingzhou and the Yimeng Mountain area, while in the Henan section, they are distributed near the Lankao Interchange Hub. The most typical setup is the gray-white radar boxes installed in the green belts, appearing alongside speed limit signs. Once, when passing through the Tai'an section late at night, my navigation suddenly alerted me to a fixed speed monitoring point. After slowing down, I indeed spotted the device flashing red lights. The expressway management adjusts these monitoring points annually, so it's advisable to check the local traffic police's official public account for updated information in advance. Be particularly cautious on stretches with heavy truck traffic—speed monitoring is guaranteed there, and avoid crossing the line when overtaking.
