Are there any fees for vehicle deregistration?

There are no fees required for vehicle deregistration. To deregister a vehicle, you can go to the local vehicle management office. If there is a nearby traffic police branch, you can directly visit their office to complete the deregistration without having to queue for fine payments. There is a separate window for this process. Before processing, the staff will ask if you have a certificate issued by the public security bureau for stolen vehicles, as well as the online-verifiable police report. The official seals on these documents cannot be photocopied, but the supporting documents can be. The difference between vehicle deregistration and scrapping: 1. Vehicle deregistration: Pertains to the vehicle's registration information, essentially canceling the vehicle's registration record. This mainly applies when the vehicle meets the national mandatory scrapping standards, is lost, is no longer used within China, or is returned due to quality issues. The vehicle owner must apply for deregistration. 2. Vehicle scrapping: Pertains to the vehicle's operational lifespan, meaning when the vehicle reaches the prescribed service life, the vehicle itself is scrapped. However, if the owner does not deregister it, the vehicle's information will still remain on record.
