Wiring your J D Manufacturing TORNADO Fiberglass Exhaust Fan to a switch box properly ensures both safety and optimal performance. Follow these steps for a successful installation:
- Prepare the Opening: Ensure the wall opening is the correct size for your TORNADO fan.
- Secure the Fan: Use the provided lag bolts and washers to firmly secure the fan unit within the prepared opening.
- Route the Wiring: Run the electrical wire from the fan's motor through the top inside of the fan housing, then through a notch cut into the upper right of the shutter frame. This notch will need to be cut in the field.
- Install Switches: Mount a switch near each fan during installation for convenient operation and enhanced safety.
- Seal the Fan: Attach flashing across the top of the fan on the outside of the building. Use weather stripping and caulking along the sides of the fan housing to create a tight, weatherproof seal.
- Final Checks: Before turning on the fan, verify that the shutter moves freely and that the fan blades have sufficient clearance.
Important safety note: Always fuse the electrical line supplying power to the fan. For all wiring, we highly recommend consulting and having the work performed by a licensed electrician to ensure safety and compliance with all local electrical codes. Following these guidelines will allow you to correctly wire your TORNADO fan, providing efficient and safe operation.
