To locate the mint mark on a 1921 silver dollar, you must first identify which type of dollar you have, as two different designs were produced that year: the Morgan Dollar and the Peace Dollar. The location of the mint mark is different for each.

For the 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar, which is the more common of the two, you will find the mint mark on the reverse (tails) side of the coin. It is located at the bottom, just above the letters "D" and "O" in the word "DOLLAR." If the coin was minted in Denver, it will have a "D" mint mark. If it was minted in San Francisco, it will have an "S." As indicated by the context, coins minted in Philadelphia have no mint mark in that space.
