If the Link/Activity on your switch isn't lighting up when you connect a device, here's how to troubleshoot it: First, ensure the connected network device, like a computer or another network component, is powered on. Next, carefully inspect the network cable connections. Make sure the cable is firmly plugged into both the switch and the device's RJ-45 ports. A loose connection is a common culprit. Then, check the network cable itself. Confirm that it meets EIA/TIA 568 specifications and is at least a Category 5 cable, as using a non-compliant cable can cause connectivity problems. Also, pay attention to the cable length; the segment between the switch and the device should be no longer than 100 meters (about 300 feet). Exceeding this length can degrade the signal. If, after checking these areas, the Link/Activity LED remains off, consider reaching out to your dealer or Edimax support for more in-depth troubleshooting assistance.
