Hello! It can definitely be frustrating when your sofa decides to go for a slide every time you sit down on your beautiful wood floors. It's a very common issue, but luckily, there are some great and easy fixes to keep it in place.
One of the most effective solutions is to use anti-slip furniture pads or grippers, which are designed specifically for this purpose. These are typically small, dense rubber pads that you place directly under the feet of your sofa. The rubber creates a high-friction surface that grips the wood floor and stops the couch from moving. These products are often called furniture stoppers or non-skid gripper feet, and they have the added benefit of protecting your floors from scratches.
Another excellent option that can also tie your room together is to place an area rug under your sofa. If you position the rug so at least the front legs of the sofa are on it, the friction from the rug's texture is usually enough to stop the sliding. For extra grip, you can place a non-slip rug pad underneath the area rug itself.
For a more DIY approach, some people find success by cutting small squares from a non-slip rug pad or a rubbery shelf liner and placing those pieces under the couch legs. It works on the same principle as the commercial grippers by adding a layer of friction. No matter which method you choose, you should be able to get your sofa to stay put once and for all
