Cleaning your Cuisinart GR-5BP1 Electric Griddler is a straightforward process. First, ensure the appliance is turned off using the ON/OFF button and unplugged from the power outlet. Use the provided cleaning/scraping tool to remove any food particles from the cooking plates; this tool is dishwasher-safe (top rack) or can be washed by hand. After the griddle has cooled, empty the drip tray of any grease, then wash it by hand or in the top rack of the dishwasher. Next, release the cooking plates from the housing by pressing the plate release buttons, making sure they're completely cool (about 30 minutes). The cooking plates are dishwasher-safe, but avoid using metal utensils or abrasive pads to prevent damage to the nonstick coating. If you've cooked seafood, wiping the plates with lemon juice will eliminate any lingering flavors. Finally, wipe the housing base, cover, and control panel with a soft, dry cloth; for stubborn stains, use a damp cloth, but never use abrasive cleaners or pads. Always ensure all parts are dry before storing your Cuisinart Griddler. The power cord can be wrapped around the back of the base, and the plates and drip tray should be stored inside the unit when not in use. The scraping tool can be stored in a drawer or cabinet.
