To replace the batteries in your Singer 1774 Hand Held Mending Machine, follow these steps: First, make sure the machine is turned to the LOCK/OFF position for safety. Locate the compartment; it's usually on the back of the machine. You'll need four AA Alkaline batteries. Insert them into the compartment, making sure the positive (+) and negative (-) ends match the markings inside the compartment or the diagram in your user manual. Always replace all four batteries at the same time. Never mix old and new batteries, and don't use Carbon Zinc or Heavy Duty batteries. It's also important not to mix battery types—stick with Alkaline. Once the batteries are correctly installed, your Singer 1774 is ready to use. If you prefer, an AC/DC adapter can be used instead of batteries; check your manual for those instructions.
