Threading the needle on your Brother XR9550 sewing machine, especially for beginners, is straightforward thanks to its built-in automatic needle threader. Here's how: First, raise the presser foot lever to release the thread tension. Next, ensure the machine is off, and rotate the handwheel toward you to bring the needle to its highest position. Place your thread spool on the spool pin, making sure the thread unwinds in the correct direction (check your user manual if unsure). Pull the thread from the spool through the top thread guide. Guide the thread down and around the tension dial, following the machine's threading path. Then, bring the thread down through the thread guide above the needle. Now, thread the needle from front to back, leaving a 6-inch thread tail. Lower the presser foot lever. Hold the thread tail and turn the handwheel toward you, lowering the needle. Locate the automatic needle threader lever on the left side of the needle. Pull the lever down; a small hook will appear. Insert the thread tail into the hook from left to right, then release the lever slowly. The hook will pull the thread through the needle eye. Grab the thread tail from behind the needle, pull it out, and trim any excess thread. For detailed illustrations, always consult your Brother XR9550's user manual.
