To ensure your Kidde KN-COSM-BA combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is functioning correctly, perform the following test: First, maintain a safe distance, at least an arm's length away, to avoid the alarm's loud sound. Locate the test/reset button on the alarm and press and release it. During the test, you should hear a series of distinct audio cues. Initially, the smoke alarm test will trigger three long beeps, followed by the verbal warning "FIRE!". Subsequently, the carbon monoxide alarm test will activate, producing three long beeps, followed by four quick beeps and the verbal warning "WARNING! CARBON MONOXIDE". In normal standby mode, the green light will flash every 60 seconds, indicating the unit is powered and operational. If the alarm doesn't respond as described, first verify the power connection, check the battery condition, and gently clean any dust accumulation. If the issue persists, consult the Kidde Product Support Line for further assistance. For optimal safety, remember to test your Kidde combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm weekly to guarantee continuous protection for your home.
