To sync the BCM (Body Control Module) on your Harley-Davidson Sportster after installing Custom Dynamics CD-STS-BCMXL Smart LED Bullet Turn Signals with Controller, follow these steps:
- Turn the ignition on, but do not start the motorcycle.
- Activate the 4-way hazard lights using the hazard button on your controls. Allow them to flash 10 times, then deactivate.
- Turn on the 4-way hazards again for another 10 flashes, then turn them off.
- Clear any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Turn the ignition off, then back on. Check your turn signals to ensure they are functioning correctly.
To clear DTCs, use the following steps:
- Enter diagnostic mode: Press and hold the trip odometer reset switch (located on the left handlebar control) while turning the ignition on. Release the switch when "DIAG" appears on the odometer display.
- Navigate to the BCM: Press and release the trip odometer reset switch until "BCM" is shown on the odometer display. "BCM Y" indicates a DTC is present; "BCM N" means no DTCs are stored.
- Address DTCs (if any): If "BCM Y" is displayed, press and hold the trip odometer reset switch. The odometer will display any stored DTCs. Press and release the switch quickly to cycle through them.
- Clear DTCs: When a DTC is displayed, press and hold the odometer reset switch until "CLEAR" appears. Repeat this process for all stored codes.
- Exit Diagnostic Mode: Cycle through the remaining modules to ensure that the process has completed.
- Turn off the ignition to exit diagnostic mode. Wait for any security lights to flash, then repeat the process to confirm all DTCs have been cleared.
