Installing your Vestil VAN-J Series Vehicle Mounted Jib Crane requires careful attention to detail. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you: First, consult your vehicle manufacturer to identify the ideal mounting location and the appropriate hardware for securing the crane. Remember that the bolt slots on the mounting plate are 7/8" x 1 1/4" and can accommodate bolts up to 3/4" in diameter. Next, prepare the jib for installation by folding the boom and securing it with a strap; the jib should remain fully assembled in this storage configuration during the installation process. Use the mounting plate as a template to mark the bolt hole locations on your vehicle's surface, and then drill 9/16" holes at these marked spots. Align the mounting plate with the drilled holes, and with one person stabilizing the jib, fasten the plate to the vehicle using the hardware recommended by the manufacturer, including any necessary backing or stiffeners. For AC and DC models, prepare the winch for operation. For AC units, plug the power cord into the power supply. For DC units, connect the power supply cord and pendant control cable to the winch. Finally, test the cable hook's operation. For manual units, turn the handle clockwise to raise the hook and counterclockwise to lower it. For powered units, use the up and down buttons on the toggle switch (AC units) or the handheld pendant controller (DC units). Observe the cable to ensure it winds smoothly on and off the winch spool.
