Installing your Progress Lighting P710114 Two-Light Brushed Bronze Mid-Century Modern Wall Sconce is a straightforward process. Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary parts and tools. This includes a Phillips screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, safety glasses, electrical tape, and a ladder. Safety is paramount; always turn off the power at the circuit breaker before starting any electrical work.
Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Preparation: Verify that all parts are included by checking the contents diagram in the manual. Do not proceed if any parts are missing or damaged.
- Mounting Plate: Loosely attach the screws (AA) and hex nuts (DD) to the round mounting plate (CC). Adjust the length of the screws to match the depth of your sconce's canopy.
- Attach Mounting Plate: Secure the mounting plate assembly to the outlet box using the screws that came with the outlet box. Ensure it is tightly fastened.
- Fixture Attachment: Lift the sconce and align the screws (AA) with the mounting holes on the fixture's canopy. Adjust the screw length so that 3/16" of the threads are visible.
- Tighten the Nuts: Secure the fixture by tightening the hex nuts (DD) against the round mounting plate (CC).
- Wiring: Strip 3/8" of insulation from the electrical wire ends. Using the wire nuts (BB), connect the fixture wires to the supply wires: white to white, black to black. Connect the ground wires as well.
- Secure the Sconce: Slide the fixture over the screws (AA) and tighten it against the mounting surface using cylinder nuts (EE).
- Install Bulbs: Insert the appropriate lamps (not included) into the fixture sockets. Use 60-watt MAX incandescent candelabra base lamps, SBCFL, or SBLED.
- Shade Assembly: Attach the glass shade (D) to the retaining bracket (A), then secure it with the glass cover (C) and coupling (B).
For Care and Maintenance: Always shut off the power before cleaning the sconce or changing light bulbs. Clean with a damp cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners or those containing alcohol.
