Installing the MaxLite FRK Series Round Retrofit Kit is straightforward when you follow these steps. First, ensure your safety. Begin by disconnecting power at the circuit breaker or fuse box; do not rely solely on the light switch. Next, prepare your existing luminaire by removing unnecessary parts like the diffuser, old sockets, and lead wires, but keep the crossbar. Access the junction box by twisting the ceiling pan and removing it via the keyhole slots. Now, you can proceed with the retrofit kit installation. Route the LED retrofit kit wire harness wires (white, black) and ground wire (green) through the wire opening in your fixture, ensuring the wires aren't pinched. Secure the retrofit to the fixture using one of three methods: Connect the wire harness leads to the mains wiring inside the junction box using wire nuts or connectors (WAGO). Connect the green wire to the ground wire (bare or green), the black or blue wire to the line conductor (black), and the white wire to the neutral conductor (white). After installing the LED engine, place the provided label in the outer space of the luminaire so it is visible. Finally, reattach and secure the lens to the luminaire; it will function with or without the diffuser.
