2. Gather Your Tools: You'll need a wire stripper or a knife, a drill with a 3/16-inch bit, a screwdriver, a level, and a pencil.
3. Remove the Old Thermostat: First, cut off power and turn off the gas supply to your heater. Take off the cover of the existing thermostat and loosen all the screws. Carefully detach the wires from the old thermostat, making sure they don't fall back into the wall. Strip about 3/8 inch of insulation from the wire ends and clean off any corrosion.
