Installing your new Harbor Breeze 84060 52-inch The Stokes ceiling fan involves several steps. Before you begin, always ensure safety by turning off the circuit breakers and wall switch controlling the fan's power supply.
First, decide on your mounting method: downrod, angle (for sloped ceilings), or close-mount. Consider your ceiling height; the fan blades should be at least 30 inches from obstructions and 7 feet above the floor. Secure the mounting bracket to your outlet box using the provided screws, spring washers, and flat washers.
For angle mounting, orient the bracket's open end towards the ceiling's higher point, ensuring the angle doesn't exceed 18 degrees. Detach the hanger ball from the downrod by loosening the set screws and removing the cross pin, then sliding the ball off. Next, loosen the set screws on the fan motor assembly and remove the hitch pin and lock pin.
Feed the fan wires through the downrod and thread the downrod into the fan motor assembly coupling. Replace the lock and hitch pins, tightening the set screws. Slide the coupling cover, canopy cover, and canopy onto the downrod. Reattach the hanger ball, ensuring the cross pin is correctly positioned and set screws are tight.
Lift the fan motor assembly and place the hanger ball into the mounting bracket. Rotate until the check groove aligns and seats. Make your electrical connections as detailed in the manual, always turning off power beforehand. Use wire nuts and electrical tape. After connections, secure the canopy to the mounting bracket, and attach the canopy cover.
Install the fan blades, aligning them with the flywheel and securing them with screws and washers. Finally, install the 14W assembly by connecting the wire plugs and twisting them to the switch box. Test the fan and light with the remote control provided. Remember to consult the Harbor Breeze 84060 52-inch The Stokes ceiling fan instruction manual for detailed and specific instructions.
