To install the burn media in your Rinnai Linear 800 Flametech Log Set, follow these steps:
- Begin by unpacking all the burn media components and carefully checking for any damage.
- Ensure the base panel is securely in place and that the brass aeration sleeves are properly positioned over the injectors, with the top of each sleeve slightly above the fire base.
- Take the center log and place it in the valley located in the middle of the base panel. Align the slot at the front of the panel with the notch on the end of the log.
- Cover the holes in the base panel with a layer of glass, using approximately eighty percent of the glass provided. Avoid covering areas beyond the holes.
- Insert the second log into the back left corner, adjusting the glass as needed to ensure the log sits flat.
- Identify the left and right FlameTech logs (the left log is shorter). Inspect both for any damage.
- Position the right-hand log, fitting its copper sleeve onto the aeration sleeve. The log's outer end should rest on the base panel, with the other end resting atop the center log, creating a gap between the base panel and the burner block.
- Place the left-hand log, ensuring its outer edge sits on the base panel and its other end rests on the center log, maintaining a gap between the base panel and the burner block.
- Ignite the fire and check for full ignition around both burners. Adjust the gap between the burners if necessary.
- If the flames aren't optimal, adjust the burner positions or the flame rod for reliable operation. Handle the flame rod with care, as it's most effective at the edge of the flame.
- Place the remaining three logs as shown, taking care not to disturb the FlameTech burner or the pilot's function.
- Add the remaining glass around the logs, covering any areas where the base panel is visible. Top this with the large black granules, and then sprinkle vermiculite around the media bed to achieve the desired look.
- Finally, operate the fire for at least ten minutes, ensuring the burner operates with consistent flames on both high and low settings.
