Creating custom chords on the QU-BIT Original Chord Module is a great way to expand your sonic palette! Here's how to do it:

  1. Accessing User Chords: User chords are managed via an SD card. Without an SD card, the module will load empty chords. To enter user chord mode, hold the Harm button for three seconds; the Harm LED will turn white. Quality selects from twelve user chord slots. Pressing Harm again exits custom chord mode. Remember, an SD card is required to save and load your custom chords.

  2. Creating Chords on the SD Card: You can directly edit custom chords on your SD card. Define each chord with the prefix "CHORD_" followed by a number from 1 to 12. Use a comma-separated list of semitone offsets to specify the chord; only include the third, fifth, and seventh intervals. For example, to create a major chord in slot 1, the file entry would be: CHORD_1=4,7,11.

  3. Creating Chords on the Chord Module: First, access user chords and select the chord slot you wish to modify. Then, hold the Harm button and press the Mode button to enter the chord editor; the Mode LED will blink white, and V/Oct and Lead functionality are disabled. Use Coarse to adjust the fundamental (root note) pitch. Fine controls the Third jack, Voicing adjusts the Fifth, and Quality adjusts the Seventh. All chord tones can be set to any note within two octaves above the root. The Triad button toggles between quantized semitones. Once you're happy with your chord, save it and exit the menu by pressing the Mode button. The chords will be saved to the SD card, if present.
