Creating secure and leak-free connections with Watts RadiantPEX-AL compression fittings is crucial for your radiant heating system. Follow these steps for proper installation: First, make a clean, straight cut on your PEX-AL tubing using a tubing cutter. Next, prepare the tubing end with a reamer tool. Then, assemble the fitting by sliding the compression nut over the tubing, followed by the compression ring. Ensure the insulator washer is correctly positioned within the fitting's recess. Now, insert the RadiantPEX-AL tubing onto the fitting's barb, making sure it seats firmly against the insulator washer insert. Tighten the connection by sliding the compression nut and threading it onto the fitting. The compression ring will automatically position itself as you tighten. Use an open-end wrench to complete the connection, tightening to 20 in/lb (2.3 N-M) – snug, then an additional 1/4 turn. Finally, conduct a pressure test of all connections between 50 to 100 psi (3.4 to 6.9 bar) using either air or water. Avoid using water if freezing temperatures are a concern. This careful approach ensures durable and reliable performance from your Watts RadiantPEX-AL fittings.
