Connecting your Siemens RDM-PC Remote Diagnostics Module to your personal computer allows for remote diagnostics and monitoring of your MXL system. Here's how to establish the connection: First, connect your PC or laptop to Port 232-A of the RDM-PC using the provided RS-232 DB9 cable. This is a straight-through standard RS-232 cable. The pin connections are as follows: RDM-1 to PC Connection is through the RS-232 Port A with 9 pins (DCE) while the PC or Laptop uses either a 25 pin or a 9 pin D-sub connector (D825-ComPort or D89-ComPort respectively). Second, connect the 24 VDC power pack to its designated connector, which is located near Port C on the RDM-PC. Third, connect a telephone line to the RJ11 socket on the RDM-PC using an FCC Part 68 compliant telephone cord which should have been supplied. For a visual guide, refer to the Connection Diagram in your RDM-PC manual (Figure 1).
