To effectively use your Klein Tools ET140 Pinless Moisture Meter for measuring moisture in materials like hardwood, softwood, drywall, and masonry, follow these straightforward steps. First, power on the meter using the Power On/Off Button. The LCD will display the current mode. Next, select your material type by pressing the MODE button until the correct option (Drywall, Masonry, Hardwood, or Softwood) appears. Then, place the sensor against the material, ensuring the meter's back is flush for accurate readings up to 3/4" (19 mm) thick. Observe the LCD, which shows the moisture percentage numerically, and the bar graph indicators: green, yellow, or red LEDs visually represent moisture levels according to the manual's chart. Keep in mind that "OL" on the display means the moisture content is beyond the meter's range, while "ER" indicates an unsupported material type. By following these steps and consulting the indicators, you'll be well-equipped to use your Klein Tools ET140 effectively.
