Connecting your NCB router to the Echelon network segment with an SMX network transceiver involves a few careful steps. Here's how to do it safely: First, remove the back plate of your NCB router. Then, gently take out the router motherboard from its enclosure. Next, use the stand-offs that came with the transceiver to mount them to the motherboard. After that, carefully attach the network transceiver by aligning and seating the header socket on the NCB SMX header. Now, put the motherboard back into the NCB enclosure. Before you do, make sure to connect your network media to the network connector on the transceiver. Finally, replace the back cover. A couple of important safety tips: Always access the motherboard from the rear of the enclosure to avoid damage and voiding the warranty. Also, before making any changes to switch settings or installing the SMX network transceiver, make sure the unit is powered off to prevent potential damage to the device.
